Job summary

Cleco in Louisiana seeks a Supervisory Substation Maintenance role to oversee daily operations, safety, and reliability of substations, transformers, switches, and protective relays.

You will lead maintenance teams, coordinate outages and energization, and ensure compliance with safety rules while aligning work with budgets and company goals.

The ideal candidate has HV electrical knowledge, SAP/Maximo experience, and 5+ years in the field with 2+ years of people leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in electrical technology or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• 2+ years people management experience.
• Experience and ability to lead staff across projects towards a common vision.
• Knowledge of standard business practices and professionalism.
• Ability to interact with all levels of employees to address difficult issues.
• Ability to manage high workloads and conflicting priorities.
• Possesses communication & social skills and has the ability to understand and influence others.
• Ability to operate effectively and proactively with an employee centric mindset.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage substation equipment, electrical theory, and test methods.
• Experience with SAP/Maximo maintenance systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Champions a culture of transparency, safety, and integrity.
• Supervises conditions affecting safety and compliance.
• Plans and oversees maintenance on transformers, breakers, and relays using SAP.
• Coordinates installation and energization of new substation equipment with multiple teams.
• Directs responses to outages and equipment failures, including after-hours and storms.
• Manages tools, test equipment, vehicles, and materials.
• Helps develop and track departmental budgets to meet goals.
• Provides updates to management and identifies delivery risks.
• Mentors staff and supports project milestones.
• Delivers training and performance feedback as needed.
