Job summary

Arizona Public Service (APS) is seeking Substation Journeymen to strengthen our electrical system team. Openings are at Flagstaff Substation Maintenance and Payson Distribution Automation in Arizona.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED and complete a Substation Apprenticeship or equivalent, with at least one year as a Journeyman. A valid Class A CDL and ability to meet DOT requirements are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completed a Registered Substation Apprenticeship Program or equivalent training.
• One year of Substation Journeyman experience.
• Valid Class A CDL and DOT compliance.
• Live within one hour of assigned Headquarters.
• Overtime and/or out-of-town assignments possible.
• Qualifying tests may be given.

Job description

Arizona Public Service (APS) is actively looking for Substation Journeymen to join our team!

We have openings at the following locations

• Flagstaff Substation Maintenance (Flagstaff, AZ)
• Payson Distribution Automation (Payson, AZ)

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Completed a Registered Substation Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training)
• One (1) year experience as a Substation Journeyman
• Must currently have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and ability to meet all DOT requirements
• Must live within reasonable distance (one (1) hour) from assigned Headquarters.
• Subject to overtime and/or out-of-town assignments
• Qualifying Tests may be given
• This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 300lbs or less

Preferred Qualifications

• Considerable experience performing Journeyman-level high voltage substation duties with an electric utility or other entity operating and maintaining high voltage substation equipment preferred
• Experienced in writing and executing switching orders, and basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• The ideal candidate filling this vacancy must be self-motivated, communicate and work well with others, and possess a positive attitude with the highest commitment to work safety.
