Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking an experienced Fiber Splicing Technician for a full-time role in Phoenix, AZ. You will terminate, splice, document, and test fiber within customer networks, with five years of experience and preferred EXFO equipment familiarity.

Travel is required; current fiber certifications are a plus. EPS emphasizes safety, technical excellence, and career development through instructor-led courses and specialized training.

Qualifications

• Associates or Technical Degree preferred.
• CWDM and DWDM experience preferred.
• Experience in carrier technologies a plus.
• Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
• Highly organized with good punctuality and attendance.
• 5 years of fiber splicing/installation experience required.

Responsibilities

• Terminate, splice, bonds/grounds and test fiber optic equipment to standards.
• Perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters.
• Install fiber equipment and patch panels; read blueprints and scopes.
• Troubleshoot damaged fiber efficiently and safely.
• Read and understand project designs and work scopes.
• Travel as needed and adhere to safety standards.

Job Purpose: Immediate full-time position for experienced Fiber Splicing Technician. Candidate will be responsible for the terminating, splicing, documenting and testing of all fiber optic lines within the customer's network. Five years' experience and experience with EXFO fiber equipment preferred. Must be willing to travel. Current fiber optic certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber tests with OTDR's, light source and meters
• Terminate, splice, bonds/grounds and tests fiber optic equipment to standards
• Perform installation of fiber optic equipment and patch and panels.
• Working knowledge of fiber optics
• Basic knowledge of networking
• Proficient in the operation of all related fiber tools and equipment
• Terminate, splice and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures
• Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber effectively and efficiently
• Perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters
• Learn and adhere to all safety standards
• Must be able to read and understand blue prints, designs and work scopes
• 5 years previous experience

Experience with the following equipment is a plus

• Fusion splicer, mechanical splicer, OTDR, power meters, traffic identifiers, digital multi-meters, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, duct rodders, ladders, bucket trucks, etc. is preferred.
