Job summary

Cianbro in Indianapolis is seeking a Substation Estimator to prepare proposals and estimates for substation projects. You will review RFQs, drawings and specifications to determine scope, quantities and costs, and you will contribute to proposal elements.

Responsibilities include developing preliminary plans, performing takeoffs, coordinating with vendors, and assisting as part of a project team to ensure accurate, complete bids and smooth handoffs to the project delivery team.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• Minimum of three years of substation estimating experience.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with scheduling/estimating software (HCSS) and MS Office.
• Conceptual estimating skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary estimate plans and assess ability to meet RFP dates.
• Independently identify scope of work and perform quantity and cost takeoffs.
• Review plans/specs to ensure estimates meet client requirements.
• Provide conceptual estimates when detailed design is unavailable.
• Coordinate with production on successful bids and transition to the project team.
• Develop budgets and monitor contract changes on proposals.
