Job summary

Cianbro is seeking a Substation Estimator to prepare proposals and estimates for substation projects in the United States. You will review RFQs, drawings, and specifications to determine scope, materials, quantities, and costs, and contribute to proposal content.

You will develop preliminary estimate plans, perform quantity/cost takeoffs, solicit pricing from vendors, and collaborate with the project team to ensure bids meet safety, schedule, and financial goals.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in technical field.
• Minimum of three years of substation estimating experience.
• Strong computer skills, familiarity with scheduling and estimating software (HCSS) and MS Office.
• Conceptual estimating skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary estimate plan and assess ability to meet RFP dates.
• Identify scope of work and perform specificity, quantity, and cost takeoff from RFQ information.
• Review plans and specifications to ensure estimates meet client requirements.
• Perform conceptual estimates when detailed design information is not yet available.
• Coordinate with production team on successful bids and transition to project team.
• Assist in developing project budgets and monitor contract changes on proposals.
• Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for management review.
• Develop means and methods to improve competitiveness and project margins.
