Job summary

Southern Company Services in Forest Park, GA is seeking a Substation Physical Design Manager to lead design activities, coordinate teams, and drive safe, high-quality substations projects. The role reports to the Substation Physical Design Manager and supports construction, operations, and emergency restoration of equipment.

The position requires a BS in engineering (or equivalent), and a PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering preferred or other degree with applicable experience.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.
• Experience with design, maintenance, or operation of substations in a power utility environment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; able to coach and develop personnel.

Responsibilities

• Make safety a priority and lead by example.
• Lead Physical Design to ensure productivity, quality, and efficient resource use.
• Serve as the primary interface for opco clients and internal teams.
• Select and develop top talent for the Physical Design team.
• Assign resources and manage design durations to meet schedules.
• Support development of design standards for the Southern Company System.
