Position Overview

As a Substation Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the physical design and engineering of high and medium voltage transmission and distribution substations. You’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient execution of capital and maintenance projects while supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design substation general arrangements, equipment layout, foundations, raceway systems, and AC/DC auxiliary systems.
• Prepare and update material and equipment specifications in coordination with purchasing and project management teams.
• Conduct engineering calculations, such as bus and equipment ratings.
• Assist project managers with scope development, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Interface with technical and field personnel to support construction activities, resolve issues, and adapt to schedule changes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety and industry standards, including RUS, OSHA, ANSI, NEC, and NESC.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in substation physical or protection/control design, or structural design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software is a plus.
• Familiarity with power systems and applicable engineering codes.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
