Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking an Engineer - Substation to perform electrical engineering for construction of high voltage substations, including planning, scope development, estimating, and equipment specification.

Responsibilities include coordinating large engineering projects, performing engineering analyses, and providing technical support to maintenance and field operations teams to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, BSEE in engineering from an ABET-accredited university required and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in engineering including electric substation maintenance and field engineering work.
• Demonstrated substation maintenance and test experience is required.
• Professional Engineering license in applicable state.

Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates larger scale engineering projects, scheduling and cost tracking.
• Performs moderately complex engineering analysis for equipment ratings, insulation coordination, grounding, and lightning protection requirements.
• Provides technical expertise for substation maintenance technicians and field operations personnel to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery.
• Helps plan design and construction standards, determine installation and operating requirements, and evaluate new products and vendors.
• Provides preliminary designs and estimates in support of capital budget plans and System Planning studies.
