Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking an Engineer - Substation in New York state (Binghamton, Kirkwood, Rochester) to perform electrical engineering for high voltage substations, including planning, scope development, estimating, and equipment specification. Office-based role with a salary dependent on experience.

The candidate will plan and coordinate large projects, conduct electrical analysis, and provide technical support to field personnel to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, BSEE in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited university/college required
• 2+ years of relevant experience required in electric substation maintenance and field engineering work
• Professional Engineering license in applicable state

Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates larger scale engineering projects, scheduling and cost tracking
• Performs moderately complex engineering analysis to determine equipment ratings, insulation coordination, grounding, and lightening protection requirements
• Provides technical expertise for substation maintenance technicians and field operations personnel to ensure safe and reliable energy delivery
• Helps plan design and construction standards and evaluate new products and vendors
• Provides maintenance program development, maintenance specifications, equipment assessment, and technical support for substation equipment
