Job summary

LS Power seeks a Substation Engineer-in-progress to join the team as an electrical engineering student nearing graduation. You will support the development, design, construction, and operation of substations while gaining hands-on experience with competitive proposals and project execution.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree with exposure to electric-power systems and a desire to work in high-voltage environments, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and peers

Qualifications

  • Understanding of electric-power systems developed through coursework, research, internships, or academic projects.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Support competitive proposals and project development activities involving substation engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Support the preparation and review of substation design packages, including physical layouts, material specifications, and construction specifications.
  • Review protection and control designs and related electrical studies and reports.
  • Develop and review project cost and schedule estimates.
  • Evaluate engineering, procurement, and construction alternatives to identify solutions that balance cost, safety, reliability, constructability, schedule, and other project requirements.
  • Provide technical support for new and existing substation assets during development, construction, and operations.
  • Support the management of engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and coordinate with consultants and contractors.

About the Role

Designed for an electrical engineering student approaching graduation, the Substation Engineer role offers the opportunity to develop specialized expertise in high-voltage substation engineering. Ideally, You Also Have...
