Power & Construction Group, Inc. in Rochester, NY is seeking an Electric Substation Technician (Electrician) to install, maintain, test and repair electrical infrastructure within substations.

You will support upgrades and capacity expansion projects, upholding safety and reliability while following industry best practices. Ideal candidates have mechanical skills, blueprint reading ability, and experience with control panels, relays, SCADA, RTUs, wiring and field installation.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Blueprint reading is essential for accurate installations and maintenance.
• Demonstrated mechanical skills for installation, repair and alignment.
• Understanding of conduit bending and threading for power and hand tools.
• Ability to plan layouts for underground services and field layouts.
• Proficiency with basic computer tasks and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot substation electrical systems such as protective relays, SCADA, RTUs, control panels, wiring, meters and instrumentation.
• Read and interpret schematics, diagrams and manuals to guide work.
• Perform inspections, testing, and calibration of control equipment.
• Identify malfunctions and repair or replace faulty components.
• Complete work orders and maintain accurate records; follow safety and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency response.
