Job summary

Power & Construction Group, Inc. in Rochester, NY is seeking a skilled medium voltage technician to install and maintain underground primary distribution equipment and cable.

You will pull de-energized cable, set transformers, and terminate GIS switch gear on commercial projects. Required are five years of underground experience, NYS driver's license, OSHA 10, and the ability to read plans and envision cable routing.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in underground primary distribution work.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License.
• CDL-B or CDL-A strongly preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Ability to envision cable routing.
• Ability to read plan sheets.
• Positive attitude; high quality work.
• Reliable and dependable.
• Willingness to take direction.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Desire to be trained in safe performance of the work.
• Comfortable with heights.
• Able to perform extensive physical labor (digging, lifting, pushing/pulling, trench work).
• Available for occasional overtime and on-call work.

Responsibilities

• Pulling de-energized primary electric cable.
• Setting transformers.
• Performing splices and terminations across dead break kits and splice kits.
• Termination in dead break kits.
• Hi-Pot and/or VLF testing.
• Rigging and positioning of slings, chains, and ropes.
• Promote safety and environmental practices.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
