Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking an Apprentice/Journey level Electrician to install, monitor, and maintain substation and power plant equipment across facilities in Iowa. Emphasis on safety; CDL required; DOT drug/alcohol testing compliance.

You will work with transformers, switchgear, relays, and protective equipment, performing tests, recordkeeping, and special investigations. Training locations include Ames Operations Center, IPL Technical Training Center, Mason City Operations Center.

Qualifications

• 2 years formal education in electrical theory equivalent to completion of CIE Course 1B.
• 4 years technical experience in installation, maintenance and repair of metering, electrical and substation equipment.
• Related training through an accredited electrical apprenticeship may substitute for formal education as determined by the JATC.

Responsibilities

• Installs, commissions, maintains and troubleshoots substation power transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear and related equipment.
• Performs line switching for substation maintenance and construction activities.
• Prepares and maintains records of equipment tests and maintenance and related administrative duties.
• Trains fellow employees in related activities.
• Might perform first responder duties and basic troubleshooting on telecoms and system protection equipment.
