Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a skilled technician to install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot high voltage substations and related systems. This role requires formal electrical education or apprenticeship, CDL credentials, and the ability to work long overtime hours to ensure continuous service.

Training sites include multiple Iowa facilities, with travel within 60 minutes of residence. The position emphasizes safety, compliance with NESC/NEC, and hands-on experience with transformers,

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of NESC and NEC codes as applied to utility systems.
Ability to read blueprints, maintenance manuals and electrical schematics.
Experience with substation equipment installation, maintenance or testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

Install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot substations and associated equipment.
Perform oil switch maintenance and testing.
Install fiber optic connections to substation equipment.
Comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements and company CDL policy.
