Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a Substation Electrician at the Journey or Apprentice level to install, maintain and troubleshoot substation equipment across our transmission and distribution network. Roles may be filled at Apprentice or Journey level based on qualifications, with training locations at Ames Operations Center, IPL Technical Training Center, and Mason City Operations Center.

The position requires knowledge of NESC/NEC, ability to read blueprints and operate equipment safely, and

Qualifications

• 2 years formal education in electrical theory or equivalent.
• 4 years technical experience installing, maintaining and repairing substation equipment.
• CDL may be required per policy and training.
• DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Installs, commissions, maintains and troubleshoots substation equipment.
• Performs line switching for maintenance and construction activities.
• Maintains equipment tests and operating records.
• Trains fellow employees in related activities.
