Job summary

Advantage Technical seeks an Electrical Field Service Technician / Substation Testing Technician in Denton, TX. The role centers on testing, commissioning, maintenance and repairs for transformers, breakers, cables and switchgear within substations, with emphasis on de-energized work and safety.

You will support transmission, distribution and generation projects, perform diagnostics, and ensure meticulous documentation.

Qualifications

NETA Level II, III, or IV certification strongly preferred.
Experience in substation testing, electrical commissioning, or field service.
Military electrical experience is valued, especially Navy Nuclear, Army Prime Power, or power generation backgrounds.
Working knowledge of NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA and electrical safety standards.

Responsibilities

Perform testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on transformers, circuit breakers, cables, switchgear and other substation equipment.
Conduct electrical diagnostic testing including power factor, insulation resistance, TTR, winding resistance, partial discharge, and SF6 analysis.
Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to identify and resolve issues.
Support field projects involving power delivery systems, electrical reliability, and preventive maintenance programs.
Maintain accurate documentation while following industry safety standards and procedures.
