Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Project Engineer in the Las Vegas/Phoenix area to lead design deliverables for electrical substations, including layouts, grounding, and major equipment wiring diagrams.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Engineering, a PE license, at least 5 years of substation experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Microstation, Plant 3D, and related software; some travel may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
PE license (PE or P.Eng)
5+ years of experience in substation design
Experience with substation layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, conduit plans/details, and BOMs
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design software (AutoCAD, Microstation, PLS CAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit)
Willingness to travel; local to Las Vegas or Phoenix area preferred

Responsibilities

Develop design deliverables for substations: layouts, material lists, conduit sizing, grounding, and wiring diagrams
Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and FAT
Coordinate design with Civil, Structural, Transmission Line, and other teams
Mentor junior engineers/designers and perform QC reviews
Conduct site visits during design, construction, and as-built phases
