WSP USA is offering a Full‑Time Electrical Engineering (Substation) Intern position in Meridian, ID (and Reno, NV). This internship is part of WSP’s Summer Internship Program, running 12 weeks starting May 17, 2027, with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by working with senior engineers on utility substations.

You will learn and apply basic electrical engineering principles, perform design tasks, and contribute to project documentation while adhering to safety policies and company

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering undergraduate program with a graduation date August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in electrical engineering, consulting engineering, the electric utility industry, or related field.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.

Responsabilités

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
• Work closely with experienced engineers on all aspects of utility substation design.
• Participate in detailed design tasks for low to extra-high-voltage substations, including one-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA and communications, conduit routing, and substation layouts.
• Perform design calculations following IEEE, NEC, NESC, and industry standards.
• Assist senior engineers with QA/QC design checks.
• Support design engineers with physical and protection/control design for electric utility substations.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
