Job summary

Black & Veatch in Overland Park, KS is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer specializing in Substation Design and Power Electronics to lead FACTS projects. You will apply IEEE/IEC standards, coordinate with owner teams and OEM partners, and ensure safe, reliable high voltage solutions across distribution, sub transmission, and transmission levels.

This role requires at least 5 years of HV substation experience, a recognized engineering degree, and PE licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized program.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, MVR search).

Responsibilities

• Lead substation design for FACTS projects (distribution, sub transmission, transmission levels).
• Review project deliverables and ensure compliance with IEEE, IEC, NEC, NESC, NERC, ISO/RTO standards.
• Coordinate with owner, OEM resources, and project team to define requirements and deliverables.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers; manage budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
