Job summary

Fluidstack is seeking a Substation Engineer to design HV substations and lead end-to-end electrical infrastructure projects. You will own layouts, bus configurations, and equipment specifications to meet utility standards, collaborating with utilities and consultants to ensure first-pass approvals.

You will also standardize substation designs across sites and contribute to interconnection processes, with additional opportunities in advanced grounding studies and GIS substation work.

Qualifications

• Experience designing HV substations: physical, one-line diagrams, and protection interfaces.
• Experience taking substation packages through utility review.
• Specifying transformers, breakers, and switchgear at transmission class.
• Experience supporting substation construction and energization.
• Productizing designs rather than redrawing them.

Responsibilities

• Engineer substation designs for campus interconnection: HV yards and MV distribution substations.
• Own the physical and electrical design: layouts, bus configurations, equipment specs to utility standards.
• Interface with utilities and consultants: translate requirements into designs passing review on first pass.
• Standardize the substation: publish one design across sites rather than bespoke yards.
