Xcel Energy offers a structured internship in electrical engineering with hands-on substation design tasks and data analysis. You will work with engineering staff part-time during the school year and full-time in summer, gaining practical experience and professional communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in Electrical Engineering ABET-accredited program.
• Sophomore or Junior classification.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally.
• Must be self-motivated, have good mechanical aptitude, and ability to work well with others.
• Must be able to work 10-20 hours per week while school is in session and 40 hours per week when school is out of session.

Responsabilités

• Support substation design tasks (one-line diagrams, layouts, basic calculations).
• Assist with drawing updates, design packages, and standards documentation.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and data validation.
• Participate in design reviews and coordination meetings.
• Support site visit preparation and documentation (limited field exposure).
• Organize and analyze project data and engineering records.
