Qualifications

• At least 1 year of substation Physical Design and/or P&C experience on projects from 34.5 kV through 500 kV.
• Experience with AutoCAD and exposure to AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, OpenUtilities Substation, Autodesk Inventor, Bluebeam, Navisworks, ProjectWise, or Google Earth.
• Working knowledge of IEEE, NESC, NEC, utility standards, client specifications, and substation constructability principles.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, and seven years relevant work experience, or an Associate’s Degree and five years distribution design-related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Apply established substation design practices to basic and moderately complex Physical Design and/or P&C tasks.
• Develop physical design deliverables such as equipment layouts, yard plans, grounding, raceways, and cable routing.
• Prepare one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, relay/control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
• Identify clearance, access, maintenance, constructability, and coordination concerns for resolution.
• Perform self-checks and participate in peer reviews.
• Own design deliverables from planning through final issue within scope.
