Job summary

Bird Electric Enterprises, a subsidiary of Black & Veatch, is seeking a hardworking laborer to support substation construction crews in Wisconsin. You will assist journeymen with installing or repairing cables, prepare sites, and perform general labor on construction sites.

Safety is essential: follow pre-job plans, wear PPE, read plans and diagrams, and coordinate with team. The role requires 0-2 years experience, 18+, and NCCER training is preferred.

Qualifications

• 0 - 2 years of experience working as a laborer or in any construction craft as a helper, and a basic knowledge of the substation field of work.
• Must have all necessary tools (see Laborer tool list).
• Must be at least 18 years of age. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
• NCCER Construction Craft Laborer NCCER Core Curriculum or equivalent Craft Training Program

Responsibilities

• Learn to use appropriate hand tools and power tools to perform a variety of functions including digging, lifting, and material handling.
• Assist journeyman in planning, lay-out, and installation of wiring and equipment, and learn to read plans and diagrams.
• Examine field conditions, identify problems, and report hazards; participate in safety discussions and use stop-work authority as needed.
• Perform all other job related duties as requested by supervisor
