Job description

Opportunity Overview

Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy. This is a 1-year contract assignment (W-2). Location: We will provide the onsite location at substation. Per diem available.

Reports To: Project Manager / Commissioning Director

Responsibilities
  • Execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams as it relates to commissioning, start up and operational turnover.
  • Ensure assigned projects’ commissioning activities are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
  • Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start up personnel, third-party start up contractors, and operations personnel on site in relation to site commissioning and startup.
  • Ensure project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting minimal lost time in initial operation.
  • Comply with all project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with local utility.
  • Ensure transmission operators and independent service operators interface to achieve project energization dates.
  • Manage client’s onsite commissioning personnel.
  • Work with the project’s designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties.
Qualifications
  • Electrical construction and commissioning knowledge, including NEC and NFPA.
  • Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with E&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with protection and controls implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience reviewing drawings, quality control inspection, and progress reporting.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, PDF editing, Word, and Excel (complex spreadsheets), document control systems and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing third parties and suppliers.
  • Experience managing direct report team members.
  • Understanding of scheduling and planning.
  • 6+ years of experience in on‑site project support for renewable power generation project construction, startup and commissioning.
  • Minimum 3 years working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction, startup and commissioning.
  • Track record and ability to work with engineering personnel on technical issues.

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills, is estimated to be $55.00/hr to $60.00/hr.
