Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC is seeking a Substation Commissioning Manager for a renewable energy portfolio. This 1-year W-2 contract is onsite at a substation with per diem available. You will lead commissioning, startup, and turnover activities across wind, solar, and storage projects.

The role requires 6+ years on-site project support for renewable generation, 3+ years with an EPC, and strong coordination with contractors, utilities, and operations teams. Per diem and benefits included.

Qualifications

  • Electrical construction and commissioning knowledge including NEC and NFPA.
  • SCADA integration and troubleshooting experience.
  • E&I controls installation, startup and troubleshooting.
  • Protection and controls implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to review drawings quality control inspection and progress reporting.
  • Proficient in Outlook, PDF editing, Word, Excel, document control systems and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing third parties and suppliers.
  • Experience managing direct-report team members.

Responsibilities

  • On-site commissioning execution for renewable energy projects (wind, solar, battery).
  • Coordinate EPC contractor, OEM start-up, and operations personnel on site.
  • Ensure reliability at operational turnover with minimal downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with Power Purchase Agreement and interconnection deliverables.
  • Coordinate interfaces with Transmission Operators and ISO for energization dates.
  • Manage on-site commissioning personnel and safety coordination.
  • Collaborate with safety, engineering, and quality control teams.

Opportunity Overview

Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy. 1-year contract assignment (W-2). Location: onsite at substation. Per diem available.

Responsibilities

To work on behalf of the project owner as a Commissioning Manager on a portfolio of renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage). You will be responsible for execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams as it relates to commissioning, start‑up and operational turnover.

Reports to: Project Manager / Commissioning Director.

  • Ensure assigned projects’ commissioning activities are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
  • Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start‑up personnel, third‑party start‑up contractors, and operations personnel on site, as it relates to site commissioning and startup.
  • Ensure project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting as little lost time in initial operation.
  • Comply with all project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with local utility.
  • Ensure Transmission Operators and Independent System Operators make the interface to achieve project energization dates.
  • Manage client’s onsite commissioning personnel.
  • Work with project’s designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties.
Qualifications

  • E&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup and troubleshooting.
  • Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Review drawings quality control inspection and progress reporting.
  • Proficient in Outlook, PDF editing, Word, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), document control systems and PowerPoint.
  • Manage third parties and suppliers.
  • Manage direct‑report team members.
  • Scheduling and planning understanding.
  • 6+ years of experience in on‑site project support for renewable power generation project construction, startup and commissioning.
  • 3+ years’ experience working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction, startup and commissioning.
  • Track record and ability to work with engineering personnel on technical issues.

Base salary range for this position is estimated at $55.00/hr to $60.00/hr, dependent on experience, qualifications and skills.
