Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Substation Civil Structural EIT/Designer to join a national Power Delivery team. This entry-level role involves structural design of substation components, with opportunities to learn from experienced engineers and advance within HDR’s employee-owned culture.

The candidate will perform designer tasks, support project work, and collaborate with transmission engineers while gaining exposure to loading, detailing, and fabrication drawings. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering is required.
• EIT certification or pursuing EIT is preferred for career progression.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine engineering assignments under supervision.
• Work independently on small projects or assist senior engineers on larger ones.
• Assist with foundational design tasks for substation structures and related components.
• Prepare and review specifications for construction materials and equipment.
• Coordinate quality checks per HDR QMS requirements.
• Collaborate with transmission line civil/structural engineers to share resources.
• Support multiple projects concurrently; some travel may be required.
