Job summary

AVANGRID is seeking a CAD Operator to manage the engineering drawings library in SharePoint and enforce document control. The role supports Arc Flash studies and various substation and protection & control engineering tasks.

Responsibilities include updating drawings, coordinating with Operations, and preparing field sketches or red-line updates. Strong CAD skills, attention to detail, and collaboration across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or two-year equivalent in CAD, engineering tech, or electrical engineering; 0–5 years for entry, more for senior roles.
• Strong ability with CAD platforms and producing drawings that meet internal quality standards.
• Ability to interpret field sketches and red-line drawings in 2D.
• Must self-check own work for accuracy and clarity, collaborating with Operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; SharePoint experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Update substation, collection and transmission drawings in CAD systems in coordination with Operations.
• Manage records and documentation for drawing modifications.
• Maintain the engineering drawings library in SharePoint with proper document control.
• Assist with arc flash modeling and study updates.
• Contribute to design reviews and project meetings; support other engineering tasks.
• Other duties as directed.
