Job summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a Substation Journeyman Wireman to install, maintain, test, and repair critical substation equipment in the Hurricane, UT area. You will work with transformers, breakers, bus work, and associated control systems to ensure reliable power delivery.

The role requires a journeyman or active enrollment in the substation journeyman program and completion of the training program, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Must be a substation journeyman or a journeyman presently enrolled in the substation journeyman training program in good standing.
• Must complete the substation journeyman training program.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, adjust, troubleshoot and repair substation equipment including transformers, regulators, load tap changers, circuit breakers, circuit switchers, motor-operated and manual switches, bus work, wiring, battery banks and chargers, and substation structures.
• Operate substation equipment, including switching and grounding.
• Perform testing on substation apparatus such as power factor, transformer turns ratio, megger, ductor, battery load testing, oil sampling, and other analytical tests as assigned.
• Maintain a safe working environment by following safety rules and encouraging safe work behaviors.
• Work in confined spaces and elevated areas; use ladders, structures, scaffolds, buckets and boom trucks.
• May work independently or with others; may have long hours during emergencies; manage tools and vehicles.

General Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Substation Journeyman Wireman to join our team and play a critical role in delivering safe, reliable power to the communities we serve. As a Substation Journeyman, you will apply your expertise in substation equipment, apparatus, control systems, and wiring to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair critical infrastructure that keeps the power flowing. You'll work alongside experienced professionals in a safety-focused environment, tackling challenging projects and helping support the future of energy.
