Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Substance Use Counselor to join a multidisciplinary team delivering screening, assessment, evidence-based treatment and care coordination for clients with severe mental illness and co-occurring substance use.

You will meet with clients to set goals, contribute to treatment plans, develop rehabilitation activities, use Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and collaborate with colleagues and community providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree preferred.
• CADC, LCDP, or masters-level behavioral health license (LCSW, LICSW, LMHC-A, LMHC, LMFT-A or LMFT) required

Responsibilities

• Meets with clients to discuss goals for independence.
• Contributes information to treatment planning.
• Creates rehabilitation activities to develop independent living skills.
• Uses Motivational Interviewing and CBT in treatment.
• Meets with multidisciplinary team to discuss plans and interventions.
• Supports clients toward substance use recovery goals.
• Maintains communication with clients, teams and community providers.
• Keeps detailed, accurate documentation in medical records.
