Brown University Health seeks a Substance Use Counselor to join a multidisciplinary team delivering screening, assessment, evidence-based treatment and care coordination for clients with severe mental illness and co-occurring substance use.
You will meet with clients to set goals, contribute to treatment plans, develop rehabilitation activities, use Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and collaborate with colleagues and community providers.
Provides screening, assessment, evidence-based treatment, and care coordination services. The position is part of a multi-disciplinary team (e.g., ACT, IHH, Healthy Transitions, CFTO) that is designed to provide outreach, comprehensive evidence-based treatment, referral, and support services for a designated population struggling with severe mental illness and co-occurring substance use and their family members.
The goals of the Substance Use Counselor are: 1) to assist clients with substance use recovery; 2) identify and provide intervention to overcome barriers to client recovery from substance use; and 3) promote, improve and sustain the overall well-being of the target population.
