Liberty Resources, Inc. is seeking a Substance Use Group Therapy Counselor to facilitate group sessions for individuals dealing with substance use disorders.

You will educate, support, and guide clients toward coping strategies and recovery, working with families and a multidisciplinary team to maintain a structured treatment setting. The role emphasizes a safe, non-judgmental environment, prevention of relapse, and ongoing education for clients.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Knowledge of addiction treatment models, relapse prevention, and mental health basics.
• Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and structured group environment.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, coping skills, and mental health.
• Monitors client interaction and behaviors.
• Provides a role model for the program participants.
• Writes group and individual progress notes documenting sessions and services.
• Responsible for upkeep of residence environment and safety.
• Completes all required documentation in a timely manner per program standards.
• Provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment for clients to share and grow.
• Educate clients about substance use disorders, mental health, and healthy coping mechanisms.
• Monitor clients’ progress, behavior, and engagement in group therapy.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of client progress and participation.
• Recognize and respond to crisis situations, referring to higher levels of care when needed.
• Stay updated on best practices in substance abuse treatment and apply new methods.

Substance Use Group Therapy Counselor Position Summary:

The Substance Abuse Group Counselor to facilitate group therapy sessions for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The counselor will provide education, support, and guidance to help clients develop coping strategies and work toward recovery. This role involves working closely with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote a supportive and structured treatment environment.

Substance Use Group Therapy Counselor Job Responsibilities:

• Facilitate group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, coping skills, and mental health.
• Monitors client interaction and behaviors.
• Provides a role model for the program participants.

• Completes all required documentation, in timelines in accordance with program standards.

Substance Use Group Therapy Counselor Qualifications:

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Knowledge of addiction treatment models, relapse prevention strategies, and mental health disorders.

• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation requirements.

Education:

• HS Diploma required.
• Bachelors or Associates and/or related experience preferred.
• CASAC or CASAC-T preferred but not required.

Experience:

• At least 1-2 years of experience in substance abuse counseling or group facilitation preferred

Work Environment & Schedule:

• Schedule may include evenings or weekends to accommodate client needs.
• Ability to handle emotionally charged situations with professionalism and empathy.

Pay Rate:

Pay Rate: $25.00-$27.00 per hour
