Job summary

Groups is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to lead group therapy sessions and support member-centered care teams. The role centers on compassionate guidance within a recovery-focused environment, collaborating with prescribers, care navigators, and recovery coaches to promote positive outcomes.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and at least two years’ experience leading group therapy in a SUD setting, with licensure or certification in behavioral health and the flexibility

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required.
  • Minimum two years’ experience leading group therapy in a SUD setting.
  • Behavioral health licensure (LCSW/LPC/LMHC/MCAP/LMFT/CAP) with reciprocity willingness.
  • Ability to work 2–3 evenings per week.
  • Florida background screening required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

  • Facilitate group discussions with approved modalities to meet members where they are.
  • Collaborate with prescribers, care navigators, and recovery coaches.

  • Maintain proficiency with EMR and telehealth tools.

Substance Use Counselor
Overview

Responsibilities
  • Lead 3–4 one-hour group therapy sessions per day using a structured, evidence-based curriculum.
  • Facilitate group discussions using a “plug and play” approach from approved modalities to meet members where they are within the guardrails of our clinical framework.
  • Collaborate with prescribers, care navigators, and recovery coaches.
  • Monitor member progress and document outcomes.
  • Support a positive, recovery-oriented environment for members.
  • Engage in local community outreach to promote Groups’ mission.
Qualifications
  • Salary range: $50,000-$60,000/ year *Based on experience, and education
    Schedule:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Required licensure or certification*: Behavioral health licensure including but not limited to: LCSW, LPC, LMHC, MCAP, LMFT, CAP with ability and willingness to obtain licensure reciprocity in other states

  • Minimum two years of experience leading group therapy in a SUD setting.
  • High comfort level with Technology: EMR, Telehealth software, Google products (Gmail, Google Docs/Sheets/Drive), mobile apps, etc.
  • Compassion, collaboration, commitment to quality care, and an investment in member success.
  • Ability to work 2-3 evenings per week up to 9pm as needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal proficiency preferred)
    • Experience working in multilingual or multicultural environments is a plus
  • Other preferred backgrounds, experience, and skills include: mental health, social work, substance use disorder treatment, therapy, human services, social services, medication assisted treatment or MAT
