Job summary

Sierra Tribal Consortium Inc. in Fresno, CA seeks a Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our team. You will handle a manageable caseload, develop and implement treatment options, and support clients facing addiction challenges with empathy and effective communication.

The ideal candidate has licensure in the state, strong interpersonal skills, and experience with substance abuse. You will collaborate with clients, families, and community resources to promote recovery and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Licensure with the state desired.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate outlook with upbeat personality.
• Experience working with substance abuse desired.
• Must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to assess substance issues and identify recovery interference.
• Write treatment and recovery plans.
• Educate clients on coping mechanisms.
• Conduct group therapy sessions for patients.
• Lead outreach addiction education programs and develop support groups for patients.
• Track and analyze patient recovery progression.
• Update the legal system about patient’s progress.
• Help clients plan for discharge from facilities.
• Communicate with clients and family members.
• Develop patient crisis management plan and intervene during emergencies.
• Work with clients to find or maintain employment.
• Comply with HIPAA (CFR 42, part 2).
• Additional duties as needed.
