Job summary

Merakey is seeking a Counselor to join the Drug & Alcohol Program at the Wellness Village in Philadelphia, PA 19136. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) working Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

You will provide individual and group therapy to adults in substance use treatment as part of a multidisciplinary team. In this role you will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, coordinate care, and support clients throughout their recovery journey using evidence-based

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, psychology, addictions studies, social work or related field with specialty or concentration in counseling.
• At least one year experience in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.
• Actively working towards a credential through PCB (CAAC, CADC, CAADC, CCS) or toward licensure or certification, to be achieved within 2–3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Services: Facilitate individual and group therapy; assess treatment needs and levels of care; engage and motivate across stages of change; provide outreach and re-engagement support; maintain therapeutic rapport and boundaries; use evidence-based clinical interventions.
• Caseload Management & Documentation: Manage an assigned caseload; monitor progress and recovery goals; maintain accurate, timely, compliant documentation.
• Case Management & Care Coordination: Collaborate with case managers and multidisciplinary team to connect clients with community resources; provide case management support as needed.
• Program Compliance & Quality Assurance: Monitor client records, service units, incidents, and non-billable activities; ensure compliance with Merakey, county, state, federal, licensing, and payer requirements; protect confidentiality.
• Communication & Professional Development: Communicate with supervisors and stakeholders; participate in supervision, trainings, and team meetings; maintain productivity and participate in ongoing development.
