Job summary

Housing Works seeks an experienced Substance Use Counselor (CASAC and/or LMSW) to deliver on-site, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction–oriented services to justice-involved individuals transitioning from incarceration to the community at Queens, NY.

The role includes conducting comprehensive assessments, providing individual and group counseling, and coordinating with medical and behavioral health teams to support re-entry stabilization and continuity of care.

Qualifications

• CASAC certification and/or LMSW required.
• LMSW licensure from an accredited program with NYS licensure.
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree.
• At least one year of experience providing substance use counseling.
• Experience with justice-involved populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual counseling focused on substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and re-entry challenges.
• Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial and substance use assessments.
• Deliver crisis intervention services and document as required.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support continuity of care.
