Job summary

Children’s Rescue Fund is seeking a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) to join our Queens, NY team in a full-time capacity. The role emphasizes comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and both individual and group counseling for clients with substance use concerns.

Based at the Union Hall shelter in Jamaica, this position collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, connects clients to services, and supports recovery efforts while adhering to OASAS standards.

Qualifications

• CASAC with a valid OASAS certification is required.
• No CASAC-T applicants; clinical hours are not offered.
• Bachelor’s degree with 1 year experience in NYC substance use/mental health systems.
• Associate degree with 2 years experience navigating NYC systems.
• High School Diploma/GED with 4 years experience navigating NYC systems.
• Experience facilitating groups for homeless adults; dual diagnosed experience helpful.
• Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive evaluations to screen for substance use and develop an Individual Service Plan.
• Provide individual and group counseling on substance use and harm reduction.
• Advocate for detox/rehab and connect clients to community supports.
• Serve as liaison between OASAS programs and CRF Transitional Housing.
• Document client contacts and activity in CARES or similar systems.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and program activities.
