Job summary

BayMark Health Services in Vermont is seeking a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to support patients through medically assisted treatments and counseling. You will conduct individual and group sessions, focus on crisis management, and help patients develop coping strategies in an outpatient clinic setting.

Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other counselors, you will monitor progress and tailor treatment plans to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Behavioral Science at least Associate.
• Experience in substance abuse counseling preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR systems.
• Successful drug screen and background check performed.

Responsibilities

• Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
• Facilitates establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan
• Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment
• Involve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possible
• Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints
• Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans
• Other related duties as determined by the supervisor

Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!

Position Overview

The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for supporting patients through medically assisted treatments and providing techniques to manage opioid addiction. The counselor facilitates both individual and group sessions focused on crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patient progress throughout the counseling process, and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and fellow counselors to help patients achieve positive overall outcomes.

• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
• Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records)
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.

Salary Range

Salary ranges from $25.00 to $26.94 an hour.

The salary of the candidate(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty and training.
