Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center’s Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SATP) in the Bronx seeks a qualified addictions counselor to join its SATP Administration. The role supports methadone treatment, on-site primary and specialty care, and integrated counseling services for adults and older adults with opioid dependence.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a CASAC license or equivalent, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.
CASAC or license in social work, mental health counseling or related field is also required.
Minimum 1 year work experience as an addictions counselor (preferably with methadone clients) required.
Knowledge of substance abuse counseling and ability to work with adults and older adults with addiction.

Responsibilities

Screen patients to ensure appropriateness for care.
Complete biopsychosocial evaluations using interviews and data.
Develop, implement, and validate treatment plans and discharges in collaboration with patient, family and team.
Provide chemical dependency counseling to individuals, groups, couples and families.
Document client progress per program policies and regulatory bodies.
Participate in staff conferences and other meetings.
Participate in performance improvement activities, including trainings and conferences.
Provide community outreach and education.
