Job summary

Management & Training Corporation in Henderson, TX seeks a full-time substance abuse counselor to plan, coordinate, and implement counseling activities within its East Texas Treatment Facility. You will work with inmates on treatment plans and coordinate with multiple departments to optimize resources in accordance with MTC and TDCJ directives.

The role involves facilitating recovery-oriented groups, maintaining confidential records, and contributing to a safe, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
• Must have one of the following licenses/certifications: a LCDC-I; CCJP-A; LCDC; or CCJP per Texas certification boards.
• Must obtain LCDC or CCJP certification within five years from registration date.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record is required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderately complex substance abuse counseling work.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement counseling activities; coordinate with other departments to maximize resource use.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive treatment plan (CTP) based on evaluation results.
• Maintain accurate and complete case reports and ensure confidentiality of inmate records.
• Participate in sessions to teach life skills and provide follow-up and after-care planning for inmates.
• Coordinate recovery-oriented support groups for inmates.
• Assist in volunteer coordination and provision of recovery literature and spaces for meetings.
• Ensure AA, NA, SOS, Celebrate Recovery and other groups are respected and supported.
• Provide training to inmates prior to leading recovery-oriented groups.
• Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adhere to safety practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned within capabilities.
