Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) seeks a full-time Substance Abuse Counselor in Henderson, TX to provide counseling and coordination within a licensed framework. The role involves planning, evaluating, and implementing treatment activities for offenders under MTC and TDCJ directives.

Requirements include high school completion, Counselor Intern registration (DSHS) or CCJP-A, and progression toward LCDC or CCJP certification within five years. A valid Texas driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
• Must have a current Counselor Intern registration with DSHS or CCJP-A certification.
• Must obtain LCDC license or CCJP certification within five years of registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide substance abuse counseling and recovery skills training.
• Maintain offender case files with accurate documentation.
• Interview, screen, and evaluate offenders for program participation.
• Provide comprehensive evaluations with validated tools for recovery and re-offense risk.
• Participate in the Individual Treatment Plan and intake information review.
• Maintain offender records and workload statistics; compile and submit reports.
• Implement follow-up and aftercare plans and connect participants with community resources.
• Prepare and submit reports reflecting participation and completion quality.
• Use approved curriculum and provide mandated treatment programming.
• Coordinate transition meetings and treatment team meetings as required.
