Job summary

Franklin Primary Health Center is seeking an Substance Abuse Assessment Specialist to conduct intake interviews, determine eligibility for treatment, and coordinate admissions. You will ensure client selection complies with Alabama Department of Mental Health requirements and assist with counselor caseloads while collaborating with internal teams and outside agencies.

The role supports crisis intervention, documentation, and referral processes, with emphasis on confidentiality and quality care

Qualifications

• Licensed in the state or eligible professional licensure.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field with clinical practicum.
• Substance abuse counselor credential must be obtained within 30 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews and screenings to determine eligibility for substance abuse treatment.
• Enter and maintain client information throughout the admission process.
• Develop initial treatment plans and coordinate referrals to internal and external programs.
• Collaborate with treatment teams and outside agencies to deliver clinical services.
• Provide crisis intervention and resources for referrals.
