The Family Initiative, Inc. is a Kansas-based nonprofit providing behavioral health services across several states.

We are hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor to perform biopsychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and individual/family/group counseling, following the patient through intake to discharge. Candidates must have a relevant degree and Kansas certification, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work within the Behavioral Health Department to deliver high-quality, compliant

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling/Psychology or behavioral science related field is required with Kansas Substance Abuse certification.
• Must be credentialed to provide billable substance use services or seeking clinical supervision with an LAC/LMAC/LCAC to be eligible.
• Valid driver’s license and must meet agency underwriting standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform admission biopsychosocial assessment and obtain signatures for release of information.
• Provide patient program orientation, treatment planning, therapy (individual, family, group) and education.
• Follow patients through continuum of care, processing discharges and community referrals.
• Complete 90 day reviews and maintain records per Kansas Substance Abuse Standards and COA accreditation.
• Collaborate with supervisor and team to ensure high-caliber services and timely CSR requests.
