Job summary

The Family Initiative, Inc. in Kansas seeks a Substance Abuse Counselor to perform admissions, biopsychosocial assessments, orientations, treatment planning and counseling.

You will coordinate care across internal and external teams, ensuring compliance with state standards and COA accreditation while supporting families and youth. Join an organization committed to quality care, equity, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and Kansas Substance Abuse certification required.
• Credentialing to provide billable services or pursuing supervision with LAC/LMAC/LCAC.

Responsibilities

• Perform admission biopsychosocial assessment and obtain release of information.
• Provide individual, family and group counseling and patient education.
• Follow through with patient care continuum and complete 90-day reviews.
• Maintain records per Kansas Substance Abuse Standards and COA accreditation.
• Partner with Supervisor and team to deliver high‑quality services.
• Identify barriers and implement strategies to improve engagement.
• Ensure documentation accuracy and maintain client files.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling/Psychology or behavioral science related field

Kansas Substance Abuse certification

Credentialed to provide billable substance use services or seeking clinical supervision (LAC/LMAC/LCAC)
