Job summary

Comunilife Inc. is seeking an experienced Substance Abuse Counselor for its congregate program in the Bronx.

The counselor will conduct initial and annual substance abuse assessments, participate in developing the initial service plan and revisions, and provide individual, family and group counseling and advocacy with referrals to community programs as needed. The role monitors attendance, documents contacts, and contributes to a generous benefits and paid time off package after 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) or CASAC-T or LCSW with 3–5 years of substance abuse counseling experience.
• Experience with HIV/AIDS, chronic mental illness, and/or chemical dependence and families is a plus.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and annual substance abuse assessments.
• Develop initial service plans and revisions with clients.
• Provide individual, family and group counseling and advocacy.
• Refer clients to community programs as needed.
• Document all services timely in records.
