Job summary

Comunilife in the Bronx is seeking an experienced Substance Abuse Counselor to perform initial and annual assessments, develop service plans, and provide individual, family and group counseling. The role includes advocacy and referrals to community programs, documentation, and participation in training activities.

Requirements include CASAC/CASAC-T or LCSW with 3–5 years of experience, HIV/AIDS or chronic mental illness experience a plus, and Spanish bilingual abilities are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Credentialed CASAC/CASAC-T or LCSW with 3–5 years of substance abuse counseling experience.
• Experience with HIV/AIDS, chronic mental illness, and/or chemical dependence a plus.
• Bilingual - Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and annual substance abuse assessments.
• Develop initial service plans and revisions with clients.
• Provide individual, family and group substance abuse counseling.
• Advocacy and referrals to community-based substance abuse programs as needed.
• Document all services in a timely manner as required.
• Participate in training, workshops, seminars and case conferences as required.
• Arrange for in-patient substance abuse treatment.
• Educate clients and staff on harm reduction.
