Amethyst Consulting & Treatment Solutions, PLLC is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to lead group sessions for adults and adolescents in SAIOP, provide individual counseling, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a human services field; Master’s preferred, and NC CADC/LCAS-A or Qualified Professional credential. In-person work with some evening hours in the Greensboro area. Strong communication and ethical, high‑quality care are essential.

• Experience facilitating groups or treating substance use disorders.
• Strong communication skills with adults and adolescents; organized and ethical care.

Responsibilities

• Lead therapeutic group sessions for adults and adolescents in SAIOP.
• Provide individual counseling and engage families when appropriate.
• Complete initial assessments and develop tailored treatment plans.
• Track client progress, update goals, and refer as needed.
• Document services promptly in our electronic health record.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including therapists and case managers.
• Educate clients and families on substance use, relapse prevention, and community resources.
• Contribute to staff trainings, team meetings, and supervision.

Our Adult and Adolescent Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Programs (SAIOP) create structured, supportive environments where clients can rebuild their lives while staying connected to family, school, and community. We are seeking a counselor who is passionate about helping individuals and families find hope and stability through high-quality, evidence-based care.

What You’ll Do

• Lead therapeutic group sessions for adults and adolescents participating in SAIOP.
• Provide individual counseling and engage families in the treatment process when appropriate.
• Complete initial assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs and goals.
• Track client progress, update treatment goals, and make referrals when additional services are needed.
• Document all services promptly and accurately in our electronic health record.
• Work as part of a team that includes therapists, psychiatric providers, case managers, and community partners.
• Help clients and families understand substance use, relapse prevention, and recovery resources in the community.
• Contribute to staff trainings, team meetings, and supervision to support professional growth and best practices.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current North Carolina CADC, LCAS-A, or Qualified Professional credential required.
• Prior experience facilitating groups or providing treatment for substance use disorders.
• Strong communication skills and ability to connect with both adults and adolescents.
• Organized, dependable, and committed to ethical, high-quality care.

Schedule

• Full-time, with some flexibility for evening programming.
• In-person group facilitation required at Amethyst locations.
