SUBR | Human Resources Generalist | Position Type: Full-Time Unclassified | Salary: $50,000 - $55,000

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee lifecycle transactions while providing comprehensive human resources support across a variety of functional areas. The HR Generalist also provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources team, assists employees and departments with HR-related inquiries, and contributes to initiatives that promote efficient HR operations and exceptional customer service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process and maintain employee lifecycle transactions, including new hires, promotions, transfers, salary changes, benefits deductions, and separations in the University's Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of personnel actions while maintaining data integrity and compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with Payroll and campus departments to resolve personnel action issues and ensure accurate employee records.
  • Process employment paperwork for full-time and adjunct employees, ensuring all required documentation, approvals, contract amounts, and position information are complete and accurate.
  • Conduct routine audits of employee records and HR transactions to maintain data quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide guidance to departments regarding HR processes, personnel actions, and employment documentation requirements.
  • Monitor and track employment-related actions, including licenses and certifications, probationary periods, appointments, and position updates.
  • Generate standard and ad hoc reports to support HR operations, compliance, and decision-making.
  • Coordinate employment verification requests, personnel inquiries, and other employee service requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support recruitment and talent acquisition activities, including employment processing and onboarding.
  • Assist with HRIS testing, system enhancements, and implementation of process improvements.
  • Assist with compliance audits and maintain adherence to university, state, and federal employment laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to Human Resources initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience working with Banner, LaGov HCM, or a comparable Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience working within Louisiana state government or another public-sector organization.
  • Knowledge of Louisiana Civil Service Rules and federal and state employment laws.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A master's degree may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience, and six (6) years of full-time professional human resources experience may satisfy both the education and experience requirements.
