Job summary

Automation Personnel Services is seeking a Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) Operator for a steel tube manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. You will set up, operate, and monitor automated SAW equipment, ensuring weld quality, safety, and production standards are met.

The role requires 3+ years of production welding experience, preferably SAW, and the ability to read blueprints and welding symbols. Competitive hourly pay and full benefits accompany a full-time, temporary-to-hire arrangement.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of production welding experience required.
• SAW experience strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in steel manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy industrial environments preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and production specifications.
• Ability to identify weld defects and make appropriate machine adjustments.
• Proficient with measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, and weld gauges.
• Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to quality, accuracy, and workplace safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) equipment used in steel tube manufacturing.
• Load, position, align, and secure steel materials for welding operations.
• Adjust welding parameters including voltage, amperage, wire feed, and travel speed.
• Monitor welding processes to ensure consistent weld quality and penetration.
• Load and maintain proper welding wire and flux levels during production.
• Inspect completed welds for defects and verify compliance with specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, work orders, and fabrication drawings.
• Perform routine machine adjustments, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately and timely.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and quality standards.

Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) Operator

Automation Personnel Services is looking for a Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) Operator for a steel tube manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. In this role, you will set up, operate, and monitor automated submerged arc welding equipment used in the production of steel tubes while ensuring quality, safety, and production standards are met.

Pay Rate

$27.00 – $34.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Schedule and Hours

Monday through Friday

Available shifts:

• 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM


• 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM


• 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) Operator Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) equipment used in steel tube manufacturing.
