Automation Personnel Services, Inc. is seeking a CNC Cutting & Drilling Operator for a steel tube manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN.

You will set up, operate, and monitor CNC cutting and drilling equipment to process steel plate and structural components while upholding safety and quality standards. The role offers a hourly pay range of $22.00 to $29.00, with full-time hours on rotating shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM across days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with CNC cutting/drilling in metal fabrication environments preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC cutting and drilling equipment.
• Review blueprints, drawings, and production specs before starting jobs.
• Load and run CNC programs and adjust machine parameters.
• Select and install drill bits, cutting tools, and related tooling.
• Position, align, and secure steel materials for cutting and drilling.
• Monitor machine performance and inspect parts for accuracy and quality.
• Use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Make machine adjustments and troubleshoot issues.
• Safely load/unload materials using cranes, hoists, forklifts.
• Maintain production records and follow safety and PPE rules.

CNC Cutting & Drilling Operator

Automation Personnel Services is looking for a CNC Cutting & Drilling Operator for a steel tube manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. In this role, you will set up, operate, and monitor CNC-controlled cutting and drilling equipment used to process steel plate and structural components while ensuring quality, accuracy, and safety standards are met.

Pay Rate

$22.00 – $29.00 per hour

Schedule and Hours

Monday through Friday

Available shifts:

• 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

CNC Cutting & Drilling Operator Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC cutting and drilling equipment used to process steel plate and structural components.
• Review blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and production specifications before beginning jobs.
• Load and run CNC programs and adjust machine parameters based on material and job requirements.
• Select and install drill bits, cutting tools, consumables, and related tooling.
• Position, align, and secure steel materials for cutting and drilling operations.
• Monitor machine performance and inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and quality.
• Use precision measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Make machine adjustments, replace worn tooling, and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
• Safely load and unload materials using overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, or other approved equipment.
• Maintain production records and follow all safety, quality, machine guarding, and PPE requirements.

CNC Cutting & Drilling Operator Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous CNC machine operating experience in manufacturing, steel processing, or metal fabrication environments preferred.
• Experience with CNC cutting, drilling, plasma cutting, oxy-fuel cutting, or similar equipment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, hole patterns, and machining terminology.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure and use calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, measurements, and geometry.
• Knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, machine offsets, and CNC adjustments preferred.
• Overhead crane, rigging, and forklift experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality.
