General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI is seeking skilled shipfitters and fabricators.

The role involves layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components and deck packages to support shipbuilding projects. Qualified candidates will develop skills in structural weld joint fit-up, reading blueprints, and using hand and power tools.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent OR 2+ years of related technical experience.
• Available to work all shifts.
• Ability to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions.
• Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools.

Aufgaben

• Layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components and deck packages.
• Developing a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations.
• Aligning parts in relation to each other using jacks, clips and wedges through use of blueprints and templates.
• Tack-welding structural parts as required.
• Utilizing hands and power tools in the steel fabrication trade.
• Ability to read and interpret written policies, procedures and guidelines as work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures.
• Basic Mathematic ability.
